What is your title?
Jr. Superintendent

Why construction?
I grew up woodworking with my grandfather, which taught me most of the basics of how to use tools. I chose this field also because of the sense of accomplishment when you complete a job. The work we do matters in the community, people depend on us to provide quality work.

What have your first few days been like?
My first week was wonderful. Quality group of people to work with. I’ve been jumping from Jobsite to Jobsite learning the ropes of Project Management. I’ve been learning Procore and trying to really understand how the industry uses the software.

What is one big question you have about the industry, going in?
When will environmental impacts be considered for every project across the whole industry?

What tool or piece of equipment do you like working with the most and why?
Hmm, I can’t say I’ve used much equipment. I enjoy using any sort of saw to cut material.

What was your favorite class in college and why?
I enjoyed CET 412 (Sustainable Population & Environmental Design and Construction) because I learned about green building design and ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

If you weren’t in construction, what would you be doing?
I enjoy gardening – I would most likely work in the Agriculture industry. Or I’d go into hospitality because I’d enjoy providing quality service to customers.

What skills are you looking forward to learning?
Communication and leadership skills because those skills would help with managing relationships among the people on the project.

Outside of work, what are your hobbies?
Gardening, rock climbing, golfing, and cooking.

What are your long-term goals?
Expand my project management knowledge so I can handle projects better and improve my performance.

What is an essential piece of wisdom you have for the next generation of skilled craftspeople?

Learn as much as you can early on. Most things tie together and relate to our industry. So, the more information you have on hand will only benefit you in the long run.
