The Bowmans were the general contractors for the new student center at Eastern Maine Community College. They gutted a former residence hall to create a 45,000 sq.ft. structure that now houses an enrollment center, child care facility, dining hall, and library. It's a beautiful building, and we are extremely pleased with everything about it. Kevin Bowman and his crew — from job supervisors to craftspeople — were all great, very professional and responsive. Bowman Constructors completed an addition/renovation project for us that added space for two new programs — early childhood education and automotive technology. Now our truck driving class is in the building instead of a portable out back!
It took a lot of communication and planning to keep things running during construction — students and teachers were still coming and going. The Bowman crew was always right on task and always willing to listen and take time to understand our goals and needs.
The bids on this project were opened my second day in this job. I'm glad the Bowmans were awarded the bid because without them the building project could have overwhelmed me. They — and our good working relationship — made it possible for me to devote my time to my new job.

Last year, the Bowmans completed a $4 million renovation of our high school focusing on safety and energy efficiency.
They replaced all the fire alarms, put in a new sprinkler system, installed new electrical wiring and insulation, made two boiler rooms into one, changed out old heat ventilators for energy—efficient ones in every classroom, and reduced the number of lighting fixtures throughout the school by 50% — and our electricity consumption by 40% — while maintaining the same amount of lighting. They also detailed and painted all the rooms.
The Bowmans start with the premise that all work is going to be of high quality and done right the first time, every time, and that's what they deliver. The Bowman brothers and their crew provided expertise resulting in an efficient renovation process, and their excellent stable of subcontractors clearly understood the Bowmans high building standards. Also, the Bowmans were actively involved with the architect and owners and very helpful when we had to make practical decisions based on the architects' designs. The rule of thumb was — do the work now and the paper trail will follow later.
Getting through a renovation project can be a huge burden, but with the Bowman boys, it was fun. They do a great job.
